-I have a whole bunch of business ideas that keep popping in my head but I can't seem to know how or where to start. I am also concerned about start up costs. I live in a small town where I am not sure if my ideas will work or be profitable. I don't have much money and I don't really want to apply for a loan, I really have the determination but I need to loose my fear. What should I do? where do I start? Any ideas to help me out?

I agree with rkoloms. Check with the SBA and Score. Start brainstorming for ideas and write them down, no matter how silly you might think it is. You can always eliminate ideas later. Think about the skills you have and if there are any niches in your area that need filled. Think about what you'd enjoy doing. Read books and resources online. Educated yourself.
On a whole it is cheaper to start and run a service based business than a product based business.
If you need help, I invite you to join my business group here on Cafemom. Many of us are small business owners and have gone through what you are going through now. We'd be happy to help.
