  • I think some people don't want it to sound like response, like they are only asking because you asked first.

  • Because you say a baby is cute to compliment the mom...and a true compliment never has strings atattched. :)

  • yeah and they never say anything about my child after they had their own but its ok for me to say how cute theirs is over and over. but this only happened after they had a kid. how is that strings attached?

  • By the time they have a BABY, your child is not a BABY anymore. I tend to think ppl comment more on actual BABIES, over toddlers and pre schoolers.

  • i agree with pp about babies getting more compliments. but its really not an issue on my end... at least not that ive noticed dd and ds get compliments whenever we go anywhere

  • exactly, she is always getting complimented and why is it that toddlers would not get complimented. i compliment any and all age kids. i see a cute kid or any child doing something cute or just being a kid i smile and say how cute. and especially my friends i comment all the time.

  • They probably just don't think about it....

  • OP are you wondering why your friends don't compliment your kids anymore, or why the general public will compliment your friend's baby but not your older kids?

Answer by Anonymous at 7:31 PM on Jan. 16, 2011

  • why friends don't compliment my child.

she always is getting complimented when we are out. she even got money once. lol.
so its more friends. i understand but she is not that much older then some of these other children. some are babies but i have one friends that has a 1yr old and my baby is only 9months old then hers. she lost touch when her son was born.

i am just curious because i would never do that to a friend or family member no matter how old the child got. i mean i am not saying be superficial but why say it up until you have your own kid and then it seems a little self obsorbed after that.

am i the only one that this happens to?

  • Has your friend complimented your children before? If so, she isn't going to do it every time she seems you, especially now that she has her own kids.
