The problem is many think that they can just read the Bible and understand or interpret it. Also they try to read it linear and get confused. You need to be guided. Either a bible study class or read the Church Fathers to understand it. It also helps if you read the daily readings and use a Bible with footnotes that explain things and also cross reference other verses.

People who need it for some reason, it will serve a purpose, but for those that don't have that void to fill, they will not need it.
This sounds like people who appreciate a religion that stood their ancestors for hundreds, maybe thousands of years are "stuck behind" until they can finally free themselves of such baggage.
I'm not so sure that's an accurate description and maybe a bit arrogant. JMO
