What do you do to build up the confidence of your child/children?

  • Praise them for the things they do. Put them in after school activities that can help build confidence. With mine baseball worked well for my sons because they were a part of a team and every time they won or did a good play they got praised by us and the other parents and their peers. My dd is in cheer and loves getting praised for their stunts and dance routines.

  • praise and taking the time to notice when they are making good decisions and emphasize how proud you are of thier decisions.

  • Their confidence will never be achieved at what it should be if the child doesn't recognize it themselves. Just as an addict will never truely be helped unless they truely want to be helped. However, you can try to encourage a boost in confidence by helping them see what is great about them. Praising a good grade, a nice piece of art work they created, a way they handled the situation. Complimenting them on things that are great about them, etc. Try not to do it in an obvious way, but at the very least give them that encouragement that they're great.
