botulism question...I am concerned

Earlier I was cutting up potatoes and noticed some black so I kept cutting away. Anyhow, I ate a raw piece from that potato. It wasn't dark black that thought much about it but more dark grey..., like that light color under the skin so that is why I did not think anything. I slice further and notice rotting in the center. I spit out the potatos that I had in my mouth. I looked tonight and what I spit out was BLACK!
Should I be concerned?

  • I wouldn't really worry about it. As a general rule, potatoes are pretty good at fighting off icky stuff even if they are rotten. Not to mention that the human body is capable of getting rid of nearly every disease, infection, parasite, etc.

Just watch for signs of illness - nausea, diarrhea, stomach pain, etc. Any signs of food poisoning, basically.
