When did you start allowing your daughter to wear tampons?

  • My daughter is just a baby. But I have never understood making them wait. That said, I hope she doesn't use tampons or disposable pads - EVER. I use a cup & cloth pads and will encourage her to do the same. When and if she chooses to use tampons she will have the option to. I wouldn't ever tell her she can't, I would simply make sure she is properly educated about the dangers.

  • Wow. I would not subject anyone to using those horrible disgusting pads, so I will introduce them to my daughter asap. I will stress the importance of good hygeine with them. I refuse to wear pads, I most definitely would not force my daughter to use them. And what about summer time, do you not let your kids swim? Oy. I don't understand why if used properly they are not good for young girls.

  • My DD is 13 and I will not introduce them to her. I don't think they are good for young teens. But, that's my opinion.

  • I rember my mom giving them to me when I was 14. But I really didn't like using them. I don't think I even really knew how to use them to be honest.

  • As soon as she asked about them. I personally began using them from my first period on. When my Mom found out she had a hissy but it didn't stop me. I bought them, I used them.

  • I was nearly 18 before I knew they even existed, lol. I'll let my daughter know about the options probably 2 years after her period starts.... there needs to be a level of trust, hygiene, etc etc

  • Oh By the way, she wasn't very keen on it either. I was on my way to summer camp and was going to be swimming a lot. That's why she gave them to me.

  • My oldest started using them around 13-14 yrs old. I didnt ever have a problem with them, but I waited until she asked and was comfortable with the idea.

  • TMI-
those that don't like them, let me guess, you're afraid the hymen will break aren't you? like GrnEyedGrandma says- if your daughter wants to use them, she will.
gets me how many people think that their kids won't do things or know about things until they make the choice as parents.

not like they check for ID before you can buy tampons!
