  • 13 weeks old is entirely too early to even be thinking about solids. Is there a reason you are wanting to do this? It is recommended, by the AAP, that infants eat nothing other then formula or breastmilk for AT LEAST the first 6 months. That is when it is recommended that you can begin to introduce solids, if you like.

  • Your pedi is not following the guidelines set forth by his organization. Is there a reason that YOU want to start so early, besides the pedi saying you can?

  • is there a reason why you want to start cereal early? i have three kids, and i have always been told 4 months for formula babies and 6 months for breast fed babies. water and juice are absolutely not necessary, your baby should be getting all the fluids she needs from her formula ( or breast). introducing these things too early can cause food allergies, gas, constipation and probably other things. i know as a parent you get excited about all the new things your baby can try or do, but you should wait til they are ready. maybe you should get another option from a different pediatrician. i hope this helps, good luck

  • First of starting Baby Food is too early..My son started eating rice cereal when he was a month old! becuz he had a bad spit up problem...your LO is about 4 months right? well if you feel comfortable with it..maybe just start them out with about 2 tablespoons of rice mixed in with either formula, water or juice..enough to make it smooth enough that you can feed to her..however be catious and ask yourself before you do it.."is my LO holding and support her head on her own?" thats exteremly important due to the whole chocking hazard!.My son just started baby food..in a jar food at like 5 months and hes doing great!! and as for the whole Pedi thing..only you truly kno whats best for you child..yes something shouldnt be offered too early..but good luck!
