Anyone had pierced nipples and still breastfed?

I had my nipples pierced many years ago but only for 3 or 4 months. I took them out only for a few hours and they closed right back up. Now I'm pregnant and want to breastfeed.

Just wondering if anyone had any issues with this.

  • There shouldn't be any issues. The milk ducks are generally unaffected by nipple piercing.

You said that you no longer have them so this won't affect you but the general recommendations is that is completely okay as long as you do not nurse with the rings in.

  • Sure, there's no issue.

  • My nipples aren't pierced..but I've always wondered...does it make it easier for the baby to get milk from the breast with the extra hole in it? Lol.

  • As miasmommy said, there shouldn't be any issues at all. Congratulations on your pregnancy!
