Can stress cause labor?

I was really stressed yesterday, and later that night I went into labor. Could it have been the stress?

  • Could be! I still (jokingly) blame my husband for the early arrival of our second child. He up and quit his job with me 6 months pregnant in the middle of a recession. The following 2 months of stress surely caused my water to break at 35 weeks!

Hormones are crazy and stress really effects them. That same son (now 21 mo) was just hospitalized with pneumonia and stress caused both a severe drop in milk production and the delay of my period.

  • Yes. High amounts of stress can cause it.

  • Ok thank you... I know I should know this, as I am now in labor with my 5th child, but I was just wondering
