What pads do you moms recommend for tweens??

Hi, i need help. My 11 year old is having a hard time with the whole period dilemma, and she is not wanting to wear any pads. I dont know what else to do. I have bought so many brands and she doesn't like any of them. Which do you guys recommend? please help.

  • I like the Always brand (green pack) .....have you tried tampons with her? I would be hesitant to do that with an 11 year old...but maybe that would work for her?

  • I started using tampons when i had my second period ever. only time i wore pads was after childbirth. she might like to change over it its not a personal thing for you. they do have tampons made for begginers.

  • Try U by Kotex for pads and tampons. She might want to wear tampons instead of pads (I didn't and still hate tampons, but it's up to her).

  • See if Tampons work for her.
Either way I think Kotex is the best brand out there.

  • My Recommendations:
Here are the top products I recommend. I am glad to offer additional data and rationale, but wanted to provide a short list for those for whom this is ample data. The list is intended for use during her period.
Liner: Carefree Ultra Protection, Regular with Wings (small but absorbs like most regular pads that are much larger)
Pad: Infinity (all have wings -- comes in three absorbency levels depending on her flow -- also even if she has a light flow she may prefer the overnights to sleep in)
Tampon: Playtex Gentle Glide has a combo box of Lites and Slender Regulars which are the best to start with (their slender regular has the smallest diameter of any regular tampon you can buy) {once she is comfortable using them there are many great plastic applicator options including Playtex Gentle glide, Tampax Pearl, and KotexU -- the first two offer all absorbency levels from lite to regular to super to super pl

    Freebies:
There has also been a request for resources. For profit companies now sell "kits" containing samples and free kits are given out in some schools and in other educational venues. You can get free samples online from the major manufacturers. Here are the links:
