Does anyone know what enviroment a giant hibiscus needs?

My friend gave me some hibiscus and I can't wait to plant them. Do they need full sun, partial or shade? Moisture, dry or any? How tall? I moved away and lost touch with him. Thanks Diana

  • If it's a native hibiscus you could probably plant it anywhere.
If it's a tropical hybrid, you might want to keep it in a large container on the patio where you can bring it in when it gets really cold in the winter.

  • being from florida, we have them all over the place. so i'm assuming, warm, moist ground, with plenty of sunshine.

  • I was just in San Diego and they were growing everywhere. So I would assume warm, sunny, and dry.
