Do you ever WASH your 'Dry Clean Only' clothes?

I do. In fact, probably about 90% of my things with 'Dry Clean Only' labels, I just wash in cold water. No problem.

  • It depends on what it is. I have some expensive designer things that I always have dry-cleaned, but there are other things that say "dry clean only" that I'll take the chance of doing myself. Most of the time the clothes turn out fine; I use Woolite and cold water, the delicate setting on my washer, and lay flat to dry.

  • I worked at a dry cleaner briefly one summer - since then I have NEVER take any of my clothes to the cleaners again - I either use the at home dry cleaning system or delicate wash in my machine (because that's what THEY did - but worse, they put everybody's clothes in a big ole machine together. Yuck.) I wouldn't wash my clothes with a strangers clothes and I'm not paying someone else to do it either. Not to mention the chemicals they use - holy crap! Some of the stuff has been banned and is still being used because it's cheap..... and You'd freak at how they throw your expensive "dry clean only" duvet covers, curtains, etc. into a machine with cheap, dollar-store detergent.

  • I tried... once :P
Out of joke: I don't have many only dry clean cloths so I am really not into this question. But I really did wash one of my jacket dry cleaning only and it turned so small to fit on a nice little puppy. Mahw:P

  • Yes I have washed quite a few 'dry clean only' items and most of them came out just fine.

  • Sure. I can't remember the last time I took something to the cleaners.
