How do i get dog urine smell out of carpet?

We just got a puppy for our kids and he has been peeing in the same area.Does anyone have any good remedies? Also i heard that using vodka with water works,has anyone tried this?

  • get some of that pet stain remover spray
    it essentially is the blue stuff they put in port a pottys

  • Anything but changing the rug and pad will only mask it, not actually remove it. That might be OK for awhile but the first humid day you get, the odor will reappear because even if you clean the carpet, you can't clean through to the pad and floor underneath. Too many years of a cat doing the very same thing has taught me that.

  • What color is the carpet? You can just pour a little bleach on it, but it will also bleach the carpet. There is a product that I was introduced to called Active. I got it from a janitorial supply place. It's is an enzyme product. It takes out everything from urine to mildew smell.
