Would you....?

Take your child(ren) to a daycare that had different beliefs then your own? I am not saying ones that teach that other belief, just that the provider has other beliefs then your own.

  • Sure, as long as that belief isn't pushed, like you implied it wouldn't be in the question. I intend on exposing my son to all of his options anyway, so I'm fine with him being around people of all beliefs, as long as they don't try to impose their opinions onto him. I want him to come to his own conclusions after weighing all of the evidence and various options for himself. :)

  • Sure.. I never asked any of the people working at any daycare my son ever attended what their religious beliefs were. I didn't care.. I cared if: they had their CPR/First Aid certification, they had early childhood education experience, they were cleared through a criminal history check... Those are the things I cared about, not their religious/spiritual beliefs.

  • Exactly what Pixie said... I wouldn't want a daycare provider trying to convert my kid, or scaring him with thoughts of hell when he's just a child... but that wouldn't be my first consideration when chosing a day care.

  • I would.

  • Never particularly thought about it. When my older kids were in day care it was a local chain and not through a religious entity like a church or synagogue. My youngest went to a different daycare run by a woman who was a friend of a friend. She is Israeli. Her staff was multicultural as were her clients. It was awesome. She had the kids dress up for Halloween and Purim. There were menorahs and Christmas stuff up for December. A great learning experience for all.

  • Yes, as long as they don't indoctrinate.

  • If they did their job well and didnt push the beliefs on others then sure I would.

Answer by Amaranth361 at 6:15 PM on Jan. 21, 2011

  • Sure as long as they were providing a nurturing and safe environment I wouldn't care what their beliefs were.

  • My initial research for a day care provider would not require I ask them religious/personal spiritual beliefs....if it's a private daycare..I would trust that religion is not being pushed. (or any kind of spiritual beliefs)

  • I don't see why religion would be combined with daycare, unless it was through a church. No, I would not want my son in a church's daycare.
