1 Bump

My son just turned 6 months and after he eats he throws up a couple of times. Usually at night time, he's better during the day. Any suggestions?

  • could be reflux. Is he laying down right after his evening meal? Or is there something you are giving him withdinner he doesn't get during the day? A different cereal or food?

  • my son did that until he was about 6/7 months. The doctor said he is a "happy puker" meaning basically he doesn't have reflux he just pukes a bit or sometimes a lot after a nursing. It gets better as you introduce solids and should be stopping soon.

  • Romez, my son was diagnosed with reflux when he was about 2 months old. I know it can set in as early as just a few weeks and usually goes away by the time they are a year old. Every time I fed him and laid him down (if he fell asleep at the breast, for example) we could hear him gulp back milk in his sleep, sometimes gagging him and causing him to spit up even an hour later. When he was awake he spit up quite often, too. Our ped suggested letting him grow out of it rather than start him on meds like Prevacid. He is almost 5 mos. now and is doing much better! Also, as long as the baby is older than a month or so (which yours is, I see), they suggested letting him sleep upright in his carseat. Just be careful because smaller infants with less neck control can suffocate in this position. I don't know if this could be his problem, but I'd ask your dr.! Good luck! :)

  • Thanks guys! He's never had this problem before it actually just started recently and I've already been feeding him solids for 2 months. I dont think I over feed him. Once he's done he always wants more but i try not to over feed him so he doesn't throw up but it doesn't help. =(
