Is it proper to give a card and/or a gift for a baptism?

My niece is being baptized. But it's been a while since I've attended one. Thanks

  • I know a lot of the mentioned gifts are traditional, but my nieces who are both catholic got a lot of multiple gifts of those things and didn't keep much of any of them. I would ask if there's a registry, so maybe there won't be the multiple gifts.

I gave a gift card to a toy store myself. a kid only needs so many crosses and frames and all that.

  • Yes, it is proper to give a gift for a baptism. I usually give money, a childrens bible, a cross or some other religious item that represents the baptism. A picture frame to put a pic of the baby in it's baptismal outfit is a nice idea too.
