What do you keep your heat on and how much is you electric bill?

also how big is your home and do you you use gas/electric? I keep my heat 64 during the day and 60 at night. I was curious at to how much we are saving by doing this. We are having a hard time now and wish I could afford to turn the heat up to about 68 but scared the electric bill will be too high.

  • are those prices for your entire electric bill or just for the heating? My electric bill this month was $133 and our house is pretty small 1,200ft.

  • We have electric heat and keep our heat at 60 but we have individual space heaters in each room so at night I turn up the one in our bedroom (sometimes to 64 because the baby sleeps in there) and turn off the ones in the other rooms (or turn them down to 50). The kids don't turn the heat on in their rooms at all, they just bundle up. But it hasn't been that cold (we only had 1 week where it was below freezing, it's normally in the low 40s here). I have no idea what our electric bill has been. It went from about $80 in the summer to $110 the first month we had the heat on but they also raised the cost of electricity here at that time. And then we got a washer and dryer which adds to the cost.
