Adoption can take months or years. Depends on age, sex, race, religion, disabilities and all of that other fun stuff. You have to make sure you have all of your paperwork done, homestudy, application, FBI checks, Criminal checks. The homestudy, application and all of that took my husband and I about 2 months to finish. We had to take classes for foster & adoption and after that, the SNAP team had to approve our information. After that we started looking for children. The SNAP team has to aprove you. You will be interviewed for which ever children the social workers think are a good match, that YOU have inquired about. There are A LOT of older children that are waiting. Like I said, it all depends on what you will and will not accept. Our social worker told us, if you are wanting a 2 year old blonde haired blue eyed girl with no mental or physical problems, you'll probably be waiting for several years.
