  • 6-8 months old. Let them get use to baby cereal first and once they have that down and eating it good. Introduce other solids. Usually start with veggies first.

  • typically 6 months, but you can start earlier. like if he doesn't get full from his bottle, and he swallows well. I knew my son wanted more when he realized I was eating something other what he had. he would always stare at me. and he kind of smacked his lips together. made chewing motions with his mouth. that was his way of telling me.

  • I started @ 4mths only because I had the feeling my son/daughter were ready with the little ways they showed me...for ex, my son would take my cheek after a bottle and just nibble away too cute right?!?! Then my daughter it seemed as if she was ready the very next day after her birth lol but she was a little greedy thing and would cry cry cry so that's how I knew mine were ready hope this was helpful :)

  • Never?

Keep in mind that solids fed to babies before they turn 1 are for the experience of eating them, not for nutrition (a subject most doctors know little about).Nutritionists recommend starting solids at 6 months; many now recommend skipping cereal and starting with a bit of avocado mashed with breastmilk (or formula). Then baked sweet potato, oatmeal, pumpkin, pureed peas, etc. Jarred baby food tastes awful, is expensive, and you never really know what is in it. Be sure to avoid the allergy trigger foods. This is not a complete list: before age 1, no soy, dairy, wheat, citrus, egg white, strawberries; before age 2 no honey, chocolate, nuts.
Two great books /websites on feeding babies, with differing philosophies, Baby Led Weaning www.babyledweaning.com and Super Baby Food www.superbabyfood.com You should be able to find them at your local library

  • i was early to start my kids. they are supposed to drink about four ounces when they were born, my kids had moved up to six in two months, so i started feeding them at two months. i never bought baby food except what wic gave me. i made my own from what we were eating.
