  • Try turbo tax. It gives you step by step instructions and is very easy. I used it the first time I filed. They have a help desk and you can call them when you;re stuck and they will help you.

  • Go to IRS.GOV. It's free, and it will answer all of your questions.

  • Also H&R Block online has a free filing option. Plus it has a tax calculator you can try beforehand to see if you will get money back or if you will have to pay.

  • I think if you make over $600 a year you have to file. But it is probably to your benefit to file even if you made less than that. Chances are if you're lower income and you're claiming your daughter you'll get more back in taxes than you put in.

Check out this tax estimator from turbotax:

  • Spend the 25.00 or 50.00 bucks it costs to complete it via Turbo Tax b/c the program asks Q's and you answer. It is fool proof, they also allow you to have your rebate check direct deposit into your bank acct. Cool stuff and so worth it!! :)

  • You are probably eligible for free tax preparation from the IRS. Call them at 1-800-829-1040 - Hours of Operation: Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. your local time (Alaska & Hawaii follow Pacific Time).
