  • It is more plausible for you to get a false negative than a false positive. The tests recognize the hCG hormone in your urine. If you have that hormone, you are pregnant. It is not something that naturally appears in your body without pregnancy.

  • Here is some more about the hormone:

The hormone hCG or human chorionic gonadotropin is produced during pregnancy.

The hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (better known as hCG) is produced during pregnancy. It is made by cells that form the placenta, which nourishes the egg after it has been fertilized and becomes attached to the uterine wall. Levels can first be detected by a blood test about 11 days after conception and about 12 - 14 days after conception by a urine test. In general the hCG levels will double every 72 hours. The level will reach its peak in the first 8 - 11 weeks of pregnancy and then will decline and level off for the remainder of the pregnancy.

  • Maybe the line you saw was an evaporation line? If AF isn't due until the 27th... getting a clear positive 7 days before your missed period is pretty early... but you never know! And if they did a urine test at the clinic then there test might not have been as good as yours! But if they did a blood test then I would feel pretty comfortable with their negative results.
If you haven't gotten AF by the 27th take another test... you should know for sure by then.

  • Hmm....false positives are rare. Maybe it was an evap line?

Wait until you miss you period and then test again.
