Do you think there is anything wrong with this?

These are a few of the lyrics to a catchy song:

I'd catch a grenade for you (yeah, yeah, yeah)
Throw my hand on the blade for you (yeah, yeah, yeah)
I'd jump in front of a train for you (yeah, yeah, yeah)
You know I'd do anything for you (yeah, yeah, yeah)
I would go through all this pain
Take a bullet straight through my brain
Yes, I would die for you, baby
But you won't do the same

If my body was on fire
You would watch me burn down in flames
You said you loved me, you're a liar
Cause you never ever ever did, baby

Is this ok for a 10-12 yo to listen to. Would you say ok, go for it if it was your child?

  • a song about unrequited love....whats wrong with it? seriously i'm not seeing the controversy that you see....lil wayne refered to his penis as a lollipop in the song lollipop, now that was inappropriate....this an "i'd do anything for you but you wouldn't do anything for me" kind of song...seriously i don't see the problem

  • My kids know that song. Doesn't bother me. The also sing along to Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream" which starts out the chorus with: "let's go all the way tonight." They don't even know what it means. We don't really censor our kids' music...just nothing with constant cussing in it (a few swear words don't bother me and my kids know not to sing them which really screws my 10yo when she's doing Rock Band, lol).
