  • try and get 2 miles in 30 minutes. They say its the best cardio. Try driving around your neighborhood and see what equals 2 miles. Just make sure that you stay on busy streets and tell someone where you are walking and when you are leaving. It's better to be safe than sorry. But if you are going with your DH or friend you should be ok, I would still tell someone. also look into local highschools. They usually have their track open for public use during certain hours.

  • I personally manage 3 miles in 30 minutes; the pace is pretty quick but if offers a great workout.

  • Need to spend time stretching and warming up muscles, such as leaning against a tree and stretching calf muscles and raising arms, etc. for 5 min or so and then walk about 15-20 minutes and then have a cool down where you slow down a bit and get heart rate back down and then the stretch and cool down. Back to the tree to flex and exercise for flexibility. The middle part, probably about 10-15 min. can be brisk.

  • Warm up, stretch, and then hit the pavement! Pick up the pace for a few minutes every so often as I've read that you burn a lot more calories doing intervals and it's a better workout for your heart. Don't forget to cool down and stretch again afterwards. Have fun!
