xray techs?

anybody an xray tech? what are the job outlook for it? are there alot of jobs out there for it? so you learn more after hired to do cat scans and mri's or u/s? or are you stuck only doing xrays? just been thinking about going to school for it and wondering if its worth it. just dont want a degree i cant find a job with, already have one of those.

  • x-ray tech and ultrasound tech are totally different is MRIS and CT scans...basically if you're an x-ray tech, you take can be in the ER, surgery, etc...In my city, the jobs seem ok, but not sure about elsewhere.

    I work in surgery and know alot of xray techs....

  • well the course work is radiology which i thought included all because its all in radiology dept. and the advisor said the compnay that hires usually does the training for all that. just trying to figure out what school i would want to do and what degree i would go for that would allow for me to do more than just xrays.

  • X-ray techs are flooded on the market my husband is an X-ray tech pt on weekends makes 26.30 an hour and an it specialist over a hospital during the week. There is little demand in larger areas for X-ray techs bc of how many are being out looking for jobs

  • thank you alyoops. i was doing a bit of job serching for that profession and i was only coming up with part time work and it was very sparce for our area as well.
