  • I wouldnt pay them myself ,for I know they wouldnt expect to be paid for looking after their grandchildren . Although I do have a friend whose mum looks after her son whilst she goes to work and she gives her money ,but I dont know how much .

  • Like Ann said you dont have to pay them Just supply food, clothing and diapers. Also maybe some extra cash if they go somewhere that requires some spending. I dont think you should have to pay your parents! lol

  • you shouldnt expect your parents to watch your kid on a regular basic for free either. My mother in law quit her for us so she could watch all her grandkids so we didnt have to put him in day care. I dont think parents expect it but i wouldnt feel right not paying her for her time she could be doing something else. its one thing if its once in a while.

  • Agreed. I think that my parents would pay ME to keep my son! lol I'm stingy--- I don't share him very often! ; )

  • No. Oma and Opa would never ask for money. They take our daughter every summer for a month or two for bonding and fun. If we go on vacation together they beg to keep her in their unit. They however do live in TX so they don't see her daily. Even if they did live here I could never a situation were we would pay for keeping her.

  • We usually provide whatever meal might be during the babysitting time. We leave money to order a pizza or something. My mother in law has commented on being paid, but my husband refuses to pay her for spending time with her grandkids. Getting her to watch them and spend time with them is very difficult right now.

  • No - she would never charge us. In fact, she raised my 2 nephews while my sister worked on her nursing degree. My father is more patient so he watches my son if I need it. If he has to watch him and I do not pay him - he loves his company (they are chess partners).

  • Yes, we pay...bigtime. Not in cash though lol. We pay because the kids have a real big sugar rush when we get them hahahaha lol
