How to tell a friend it's time to move out?

SO and I let one of his friends move in three months ago. It was supposed to be for a few months. Well a few months have gone by and he hasn't done anything to improve his situation. I don't even know if he has saved up money to get his own place.

Anyway, hubby has finally told me that he has had enough with his friend living with us. Oh, he still loves his friend. He just wants him as a friend, not a room mate. The issue we're having is trying to break to him the news that it's time for him to go without ruining the friendship. He doesn't have to leave today, but we'd love for him to be out by the end of Feb. and have our house back.

Any suggestions?

  • We had this same issue a few months back, DH plainly told them that they needed to be out by the end of October because it just wasn't working as roommates, but that we didn't want to ruin the friendship

  • tell him you aren't going to support him, you both need and want your personal privacy , private home back to yourselves. He extended his stay too much.
