if you place a pre-order on amazon.com do they take the money out of your account then or do they take it out closer to the date of the pre-order?

  • I've ordered from Amazon for many years and never had them charge me until something was shipped, unless I was buying from one of their resellers.

So if you're talking about a preorder of something being released and you're buying from Amazon itself, it should not be charged until the ship date.

  • For books, it's deducted when it's ready to ship.

  • If you pre-order a Kindle book they take the money right away and deliver the book when it's available. I believe video games are done the same way.
