what are children expected to know by the time they go into kindergarden?

  • Depends on the state and school district you're living in, its not the same nationwide. Go to your local school districts website and click on the kindergarden readiness link, there should be one somewhere. If you have no luck there go to your states department of education website and they will for sure have the standards for each grade, then just realize what the state is saying needs to be known by the end of kindergarden. But it will at least give you a starting point.

  • She should be able to write her first and last name in upper and lower case. She should understand the sounds that the letters make. Know all shapes and colors. Understand numbers. Be able to follow directions.

  • Depends on the state & school district. Most states have a Department of Education website which should list KIndergarten readiness standards.
