"I'm a kitty" ??

Does your 3-4 year-old like to pretend they are an animal? What kind? How often?

Mine LOVES to be a "kitty" and likes to meow and crawl like a kitty would. Drives me crazy sometimes -- I sure hope this stage doesn't last long! SHe even uses it as an esxcuse to TRY and get out of eating specific meals -- example "Kitty's don't like lasagna" -- HA!

  • try explaining to people who knock on your door, why your 5 yr old is barking like a dog! not fun!

  • Kids go though these stages. About the lasagna, make sure you introduce her to garfield. If you feel mischievous, introduce her to heathcliff. He eats out of the trash can, that might make her want to eat what you are serving more. O:)

My DD2 likes to meow, but she's not into pretending much yet.

  • I think this is really common. It could be worse - my 8 yo likes to talk like Fred (of the internet & Nickelodeon). If you don't know who he is, you are lucky. Hopefully he'll have faded away by the time your little one is older!

  • my dd (who will be 3 next month) has started pretending to be a dog, she will crawl around barking. the other night the only way we could get her to eat was to tell her it was dog food. we just go along with it and she goes back to being our ria a few minutes later
