How much do you need to set aside to take a vacation?

As tight as things are and with the increase of gas, food, and lodging, how much do I need to set aside every month?

  • I do set money aside every month but we have never taken a vacation. Maybe one day.

  • Decide what kind of vacation you want to take..check out average prices then divide it by the amount of time you want to save for it in.

  • If it just a road trip I say about $2000 if you are going to a resort of something $4000 . We put anywhere from $20 -$100 a pay period depending on what need to be paid. Find really great deals on different websites and sometimes go away for a weekend or whole week trips.

  • we set aside $1500 from our tax return every year... that is 3 week long camping trips and 2 long weekends ;o)

  • It all depends on what kind of vacation you are taking. We don't set aside every month, we just start saving when we want to plan a vacation and we know what we want to do :)
