does your sleep schedule affect the baby?

I had heard that the way you sleep while pregnant is the way your child will sleep when he/ she is born. Is this true? Do they really get used to a certain sleep schedule before they are born? Or is it just an old wives tale?

  • Old wives' tale. It's more accurate to say baby affects how YOU sleep! (If you haven't yet been awakened in the middle of the night by movement of the extreme need to pee... it's coming!)

  • not at all. they usually sleep when you are moving and are awake when you are resting when they're in the womb. for the first few days of their life they will only sleep. that's why babies lose weight after they are born. they wake up for maybe 5 min and then back to sleep. that'll be the time you're in the hospital. sleep patterns totally depend on the baby. all babies are different

  • oh yes I have been "blessed" with the need to pee in the middle of the night. LOL or randomly waking up for no reason at all at 3-4 AM and not being able to go back to sleep for hours. The joys of pregnancy I guess LOL
