  • I started solids with all of mine between 4-6 months, but I didn't start all of them with rice cereal - there are other foods that are just as good if not better for them.

  • Dr told me to start the cereal at about 4 months and no jar foods till 6 months. I didnt use the rice cereal because the store was almost always sold out but we used the whole grain one. He loved it....i didnt even have to mix fruit in it =) Also you shouldnt put it in a bottle because it is a chocking hazard. Have fun with the little one!

  • majority of doctors recommend to start at 6 months. most doctors will give you the OK at 4 months, so they don't have to deal with moms, (that, and moms are gonna do it anyway) besides back then, i've never heard of a doctor give the OK before 4 months. there's been studies that show anytime before 4 months can cause more allergies, and cause them to be obese later on.

as for your question, i started my son at 4 almost 5 months with cereal. after doing more research, with my dd, she didn't get anything until 9 months, just formula. even then i didn't give her cereal. i started her on table food. cereal has no nutrition in it.

  • 2 months with my first and 3 months with my second. It was all in when I thought they needed a little extra food.

  • Never. My first wouldn't eat cereal, but started jarred foods at 5.5 months. My second wouldn't tolerate being spoon-fed at all, so she had no solids before 7.5 months, at which point she went straight to table foods.

  • I started cereal with DD at about 5 1/2 mos old, simply because I didn't know any different. Fortunately, she enjoyed it, and did well with it. She was offered cereal once a day for a few weeks, not really sure when I increased it and added other foods, she's 5 now so it was some time ago :) I don't recommend starting solids until at least 6 mos of age. With DS, we skipped cereal all together, and I introduced solids to him at around 8 mos. He wasn't very interested though, and only ate a few spoonfuls of solids every few days until about 11 mos, when he really took an interest and began eating on a daily basis.
