  • "Phenylketonuria (PKU) is a rare condition in which a baby is born without the ability to properly break down an amino acid called phenylalanine."

If not treated through diet, this can lead to mental retardaation within the first year of life. Those who have it and become adults, they must stay on a strict diet.

CONTACT your doctor for your pregnancy plan. (although I have not known normal adults to have this condition, let alone anyone being pregnant.)
