What cut of beef do you use for Philly cheese steaks?

  • i use the pre-cut ones because there is no way i'd be able to slice it that thin and consistent lol

  • I think it is a rump roast sliced very, very thin. If you partially freeze the roast and then use a slicer I think you can get it nice and thin. Otherwise I think they sell it thin in the freezer section. Also ask the butcher.

  • Thanks momjoy! I made some Thursday out of top round but it was pretty difficult to slice it thin. It was SO delicious, but thinner strips would have just been the added touch it needed. I love their tip on how to slice it thinly. Thanks so much for the link!!
