  • They're really not good for you. They're loaded with sugar, and won't keep you full for long. Nutritionists shudder when you bring them up!!

  • i think they're good when they're really sick and don't want to eat solid foods.

  • Instead of meal replacement shakes what about trying out those Pediasure drinks?  If I am not mistaken, they have quite a bit of nutrients in them.

  • Why meal replacement? What's wrong with a meal? Not a great idea at this age.

  • Something like Instant Breakfast can be good for kids who don't eat breakfast. My youngest never wants breakfast, but I want him to have something in his stomach before he leaves for school.

  • Read the ingredients, and then decide for yourself.

I would never give them to a child (or an adult)

  • I agree with hubby. I mean why does she need them, not getting a balanced diet? Then I would say it is time for the family to re-look at how food is looked at and how she is expected to eat. I mean the girls know they need to have some fruit eat day and are expected to eat all their veggies at dinner or no dessert. We don't keep a lot of sweets in the house, mostly because of me, terrible sweet tooth. The girls are 3 and 5. My 3 yo used to not eat veggies then we discover dip, she eats them all and anything else I give her, as long as there is dip (ketchup, miracle whip, soy sauce, cheese, ranch, etc. . ) Hope this helped and GL finding the right balance takes time.
