Do your kids take a multi vitamin?

My boys hated take their vits and would get mad when I made them take it. But now that I have gotten gummy vit they love taking it. I got Marvel Heros and they will take a vit everyday and they love it. Now I just need to get my husband to take one and I wil be happy.

  • No, vitamins are not needed if they eat a well balanced diet.

  • Since my 3 year old has picky moments, she gets a flinstones chewable every day along with gummy Vitamin D drops everyday in the winter.

  • My boys get the Marvel Heros, too - and my husband also takes them! Claudiomom, make sure you notice the dosing for those. They get two gummies per day.

I agree that if kids have a balanced diet it's not necessary, but given how picky mine can be about vegetables, I like to make sure they are getting enough. Plus, I've never taken the time to design a diet that makes sure they get enough vitamin A, riboflavin, or niacin. I offer a range of veggies, but I'm too busy to make sure every single micro-nutrient is up to its recommended level every single day.

  • my son also gets a marvel heroes, but his 'autism specialist' told me i should give him flintstones+ with vit D and also a childrens tums to make sure he gets enough calcium so i will switch to those when the marvel gummies run out. its sad though because he loves the gummies i really dont think he knows its good for him :>

  • Dr.Donna- I know when I first gave it to them I only gave one and then I seen in the tiny print its two. So they have been getting two ever since. My husband has two yesterday he said they tasted good so maybe he will take them now.

  • claudiomom--- he does and on the recommendation of his pediatrician, he doesn't need vitamins because he is healthy and growing. He has never had vitamins, even as an infant. Your kids gets an amazing amount of vitamins every day, you just don't realize it and if kids or adults get too much of any nutrient or vitamin they can have serious medical consequences.

  • Yes, they get a half-dose (because I do feed them well, and it's just to fill any gaps) of an excellent multi-vitamin, multi-mineral, whole foods supplement. Much better than any off-the-shelf "vitamin".
