Thoughts on Prop 8?

I would love to hear what everyone has to say about Cali's Prop 8 that was defeted in this election. Pro's & Con's... bring them on. I just watched Keith Olbermann's reaction on You Tube. I have to admit, that his take on it all was VERY refreshing and reassuring at the same time.

  • Gays have the exact same civil rights as straight people, and they have the same rights to get married - they just have to marry someone of the opposite sex.

  • Anon: I don't mind saying that you are an idiot. If you strictly took your info from a damn commercial, you are the reason people don't have equal rights. Research makes an intelligent citizen, no research makes an unintelligent citizen. Congrats! You have joined the ranks of many.

  • My thoughts on Prop 8- it is over move on. The majority of people in CA have spoken (twice) so deal or move. It doesn't sound like the nice or PC thing to say, but "oh well." The reality is there are 3 states (as I learned tonight) that legally recognize gay "marriage". If "you" really want it- go there- where majority of the people think like you, rather than fighting to trying to make "enough" people agree with you to get what you want where you are.
And before anyone asks, yes I would say the same thing on other situations as well. I live in a state that doesn't represent my views, so I know my reps and state leaders aren't going to be making things happen that I agree with or want. Therefore, I have a choice, suck it up and make the best, or move to a state where the majority "think like me". My personal "comfort and convenience" aren't worth the move for me and my family, yet.
