She might be sick on and off for two weeks and might get bored with the brat diet. Sick on and off and diarria from time to time. Anything else would be great.

  • BRAT is the standard of care for gut trouble. 2 weeks is awhile... she could be dehydrated and you not even realize it. I'd take her to urgent care just to have her urine and maybe blood work done for protein in the urine and kidney function. It's possible she needs meds to make her system get back to normal. You've tried to alter the diet .. there isn't much also you can do! 2 weeks of suffering w/ little relief is more than enough

  • depending on her age, gatorade can do more harm than good. I don't think the OP has mentioned her age so hard to say.

The sugar content is too high, and it might actually make your kids diarrhea problem worse, especially if he isn't consuming much in the way of other liquid and food.

Instead, give him an electrolyte solution such as Pedialyte or Kao Lectrolyte. These are specially formulated to offer the proper amounts of sugar and salt for rehydration. And they come in many flavors and even as popsicles. If your kid doesn't like the taste, try adding 1/4 teaspoon of sugar-free Kool-Aid to each 8 ounces of unflavored electrolyte product.

  • It sound to me like she has picked up a parasite. Do you have pets? Are they fully wormed? We have a parasite here called guiardia which is invisible to the naked eye and has the exact symptoms you are describing. It is contagious and is commonly contracted by touching unclean taps and door knobs in bathrooms and toilet cubicles. This parasite is hard to treat and needs a specific tablet which is taken for three weeks. This parasite can lay dormant in the body for weeks at a time and become serious later. No special diet will make any difference. In the meantime, clean your house including curtains, soft furnishings, door frames, doorknobs, bench tops, taps, appliances, bed frames, and every unusual thing in the house. This should prevent another family member getting sick from anything in your home. You cannot clean other places!!

  • Two weeks is a long time, It sounds like she may have a food allergy, like gluten or dairy - please have this checked out.

In the interim, chamomile tea and papaya enzymes (be sure to get a pineapple free) will help settle her stomach.
