Does anyone else have to pay for preschool in southern PG County, MD? Pt 1

My dd will be 4 next month. So age wise she'll be old enough for pre-k. But,,,,according to the info online it's based on income and we won't qualify. So then I checked on like a daycare center that would provide some type of schooling and will have to pay. I think the cheapest was around $1200 from 9am to 12pm. The 2 other schools I checked didn't give a price but they were from 9am to 3pm. So I can only imagine their prices.

  • $1200 is very reasonable for 3 hours a day. I pay $190 a month for three hours a day. Some of the local preschools are upwards to $350 a month.

  • Even as a single mom in Texas, I do not qualify for pre-k in our school district. But since pre-k is now MANDATORY, I will have to pay $140 a week. (even without child support) How fair is that?

  • It BS and unfair to alot of us. I didn't think it was going to be this difficult.

  • We have free pre-k here and it is based on income. We do not qualify and even if we did, I would not send my son there. It is a crappy curriculum.  We pay 400/month for preschool(pre-k) M-F 9-12.
