Party Food Ideas

We always have the same foods at our house parties. Hamburgers, hotdogs, BBQ, and the side to match. Macaroni salad, potato salad, deviled eggs etc...
We want to change it up a bit. Anyone have any party food ideas?

  • Taco bar - hard shells, soft shells, meat, cheeses, lettuce, salsa, olives, tomatoes, the whole works. Chili with a variety of toppings etc. Finger foods or "stick-em" foods (all foods you can eat by jabbing a toothpick into - meatballs, smokies, cheese bites, veggies with dips, etc). Party subs with a variety of toppings (think subway).

  • BBQ a pork shoulder and make pulled pork sandwiches, or BBQ chicken, Beer Butt chicken, brats and smoked sausage, cole slaw, broccoli salad, layered salad with pecans, pasta salad, fruit salad, marinated vegetable salad. Salad bar. Make your own sub bar.

  • We have eight birthday parties a year here. We do big pots of chili, taco salad bar, coney dogs, several pans of lasagna that I make in advance and bake on the birthday, big pot of spaghetti, and have even made homemade clam chowder in the past. I did decide to stop making that for parties, since with the ten of us alone it is expensive, and for a party it is outrageous. Or you could have an appetizer party.
