I used a chocolate cake mix today and...

it gave me a cake about 1/3 as thick as I remember.
The package even said to get a thicker cake use a smaller pan.
Packages and cans are all getting smaller.

  • yes!! when i make brownies for potlucks i have to buy 2 boxes to fill a 9x12 pan... used to just be one -same brand as before! you are right and it sucks!

  • Brownies are the worst. I'd rather just pay an extra 50 cents or whatever and not have to worry about a thin little bit of brownie burning in my 9 x 13 pan. They used to be so nice and thick. GRRR

  • I hope so. Restaurants need to do the same.

  • I haven't used boxed cake mixes in a long time. I knew cans and everything else has been shrinking. If they change the amounts in boxed cake mixes they are going to have to change the size of standard baking pans to prevent burning and thin cakes.

  • I haven't noticed a change in cake mixes. I still get the cakes I always have.
