Is a cocktail dress just a knee length dress or is it extra fancy? Do you think this dress is considered a cocktail dress?

  • Yes it's a cocktail dress. It's usually something that's too dressy for the office, usually more skin showing, either with spaghetti straps, or short length. Any glitz like rhinestones makes it inappropriate for the office, but great for cocktail dress. A simple dress can also be jazzed up with sparkly jewelry to make it a cocktail dress.

  • When I think of a cocktail dress I think of something dressy. Not super short, but above the knee. But thats just my take on it

  • It can be very fancy. Or it can be simple and dressed up with accessories or jewelry. Think of the dresses that the Real Wives wear on the reunion shows. Knee length and WOW!!!

  • A cocktail dress can be above or below the knee, they are dressier than everyday office dresses.

  • Around knee length..but def. not just a dress. It can be very fancy depending on the occaision. This is a great time to make sure you have that perfect 'little black dress" The one that is perfect for somber occaisions..and can be dressed up to the hilt with anything from a string of pearls to glitz and glitter jewelry.

  • i prefer black with very "wow" jewelry but any rich color is appropriate in my book (like yours, or dark purple or deep reds)... that should be fine.
