Montana dreaming...

I was wondering if anyone has ever visited or lived in Anaconda MT or Missoula MT or surrounding areas? We LOVE the mountains and all that the Wile West brings but we have never visited these areas. My husband, son and I are looking to possibly relocate there and we will take a interviewing visit in early Dec. 2008. However, I imagine it's dificult to get a true feel for a place in a day or 2... any help, suggestions and input is very much appreciated! Thanks :)

  • Pros: Land, housing and costs of living are less expensive than many places People are generally friendly and helpful Opportunity to "live off the grid" with solar and wind power Great for people who love viewing wildlife including cougars, bears, moose, wolves, deer & elk Lots of outdoor activities like fishing, hunting, horseback riding, hiking, snowmobiles, etc. Parts are very beautiful Cons: Very cold winters with lots of snow Very hot, dry, windy, dusty summers Forest fire danger in summer If you love to shop, there aren't many shopping malls so plan on shopping online Be prepared for the abundant wildlife to eat your garden, eat your trees, eat your chickens or your pets if left outside unprotected Distances are long between towns so you may spend a lot on gas if you are used to living in a city
