How old were/are your kids when they started showering/bathing by themselves?

My 5 year old started showering alone just here recently.  He turned 4 on the 21st of this month.  On his birthday he wanted to take a shower, I let him.  It has turned out wonderful!  He makes sure to get clean and he gets extra time to play!  My soon to be 4 year old took a shower by herself the other day, again worked out great!  I thought that she might be a little too young but she did great so HECK YEAHHHH!  Did anyone else feel like this was a huge milestone?  I am feeling like it's as exciting as walking and talking, lol.

  • We threw a little celebration when the kids were finally taking showers by themselves! Mine were around four, each of them (I have 4). So I feel your joy!!! Woo-hoo!

  • DS washes himself. Still hasn't quite got the hair washing thing down yet. So not completely by himself yet but soon.

  • Wow if it will be that soon for most kids then I may get to stop getting soaked at bath time. I think that I will let my 2 1/2 yo to start washing herself then with some help of course.
