3 Bumps

What do you call a pacifier?

Do you call it something else, and if so, what?

We called it a binkie until my 3rd child started calling it his 'me me' when he was little, and now we still call it that for our new baby.

My mother always called it a 'bo bo' apparently it was some Spanish thing.

My husband's family is Canadian and they call it a 'suckie', which I cannot get used to and think sounds vulgar!

  • My youngest DD called it "trade" - because we had multiple pacifiers all over the house and if she would see one, she wanted it. If she already had one, I told her "you have to trade it for the one you already have" ... so eventually when she saw one, she would pull the one she had out of her mouth and say "trade"! Then if she lost it she would yell out "trade", so we would all scramble to find another one!
