Question for birthing experts!!! adult content

With my first child, my Dr. sent me home & told my DH & I to have intercourse to induce labor (maybe it's called ripening the cervix??) . My question is if sperm ripens the cervix at the end of a pregnancy then why doesn't it effect the cervix earlier in pregnancy??

  • because it only works if your body is ready to go into labor. same with walking, and any method used to help induce labor (besides hospital inductions)

  • As said above, those "tricks" only work if your body is ready to go into labor. So don't get your hopes up, it might not work, then again it might.

  • It can. But there are other factors that need to be considered. If you have had several miscarriages they usually tell you to avoid sex for the first trimester. For me I needed to avoid sex for the entire pregnancy.
