Tomatoes require at least 6-8 hours of full sun a day, so the biggest issue would be providing enough light. Sun through a window wouldn't be enough, grow lights would probably help quite a bit. Cherry tomatoes would probably be the best to try inside, Determinate varieties would be best as they only grow to a certain size and set fruit all at the same time. Indeterminate tomatoes continue growing and bearing fruit until frost, so would probably be too big for inside. I haven't seen anyone have much luck with the Topsy Turvy planters around here.
