  • Of course, just make sure your doctor knows your history, and they will help you manage your issues so you and your baby are both healthy.

  • Thank you very much! I wish one of you guys have type one and has kids so i could talk to you about it. Im just really worried about all the birth defects and miscarriages.

  • If your doctor has not referred you to a certified diabetic educator, who specializes in pregnancy (if you are in Chicago, I will be happy to refer you to a CDE who is a nurse/midwife), then demand that referral right away! Proper diet is so critical for pregnant diabetics.

  • When EVERY baby is born they check the baby's blood sugar. They will be able to treat right away if anything is wrong....one thing that is common in babies born to diabetic moms is that while the baby is in your body the baby lives off of you...so when your sugar is high they are high too...and when they are born they are not used to not having all that sugar so their sugar levels can drop very low...but it will be ok...they check this stuff
