Holy Heartburn, Batman!

I'll be 38 weeks pregnant on Saturday. I'm so tired & I just want to go to bed... in between an earache I developed last night and heartburn, I just don't see how that's gonna happen. :( I just took like 5 Tums Ultras... but waves and waves of heartburn keep coming. All I had for dinner was ramen noodles, and I drank some water before I layed down. Yes, even water has been known to give me heartburn this pregnancy if I drink a bunch before bed, but I don't think I drank a bunch this time... a few sips maybe.
UGH... I can't sleep in the recliner... any other suggestions besides tums & elevating my head?

  • No one told me till the last month of my first pregnancy but milk helps LOADS.. I drink a glass before I go to bed. Also I sleep on 9 pillows to help elevate me cause I have breathing issues but it might help for your heartburn.

  • I would avoid anything salty or with strong flavor. Try things like dry toast, cheerios, etc. I've heard baking soda helps but I have never tried it.

  • I use tums extra strength and milk. Make sure you keep your head elevated when you sleep about 6 inches. It really helps!

  • Maybe that's what did it... ramen noodles are pretty darn salty.

  • I struggled with heartburn throughout both my pregnancies, it was the worst part. I did find some things that helped, milk, fresh fruits especially pineapple and papya, a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in some warm water, and avoiding foods that I knew would irritate me.

My favorite was putting fresh pineapple in the freezer and eating a piece when my heartburn got bad. It always helped. I hope you find some relief, I know how miserable it is.

  • Thanks!! Last time with DD#1 it was so bad I would vomit. :( This time it's not as intense (it's close, though), but SO much more frequent. Mmmm.... frozen pineapple.... that sounds so yummy and refreshing!! :) Thanks for the heads up ladies!!
