How do you change a baby's name?

We switched my daughter's name last minute at the hospital and now I'm not happy with it. I want to change it, but I don't know how much it costs or what the process is. She's 9 months old now and I don't know if that matters either. Has anyone ever done this?

  • It depends on what state you live in. Call you local health department ( or wherever you get your birth certificate for her and ask).

  • Varies from state to state, can be fairly expensive, and often includes not only filing the court papers and appealing, but many states also have other requirements
